I have struggled with my skin since I was in the 7 or 8th grade. I tried so many different products over the years. I found that the prescription topicals would work, but were far too strong. They left my skin feeling sensitive, tight, and dry. I started to wonder if I was sacrificing my skin health for clear skin. So, naturally, I decided to do the the complete opposite and was using only natural, vegan, no artificial ingredient skin care. I definitely felt as if my skin was moisturized and healthy but I was breaking out. Which lead me to the next phase in my skin care battle.

After feeling as if I’d tried everything for my skin to no prevail I finally said f*ck it.

I’m tired of the constant maintenance, the expensive products, and the constant advertisements trying to make me feel like I need a new magic product to cure all of my problems. So, I stopped with all of it. I stopped caring about ingredients or brand names. I ignored all of the new and hyped products and routines. I used a Neutrogena body wash every night in the shower and that’s it.

You guys, here’s the tea - it worked.

My skin wasn’t perfect, but that bitch was thriving. I tried to wear very minimal makeup during the day and made sure to wash my face with the same Neutrogena body wash every night. The key for me was keeping it simple, clean, and consistent. I struggle with consistency so this routine was simple enough for me to guarantee I got it done everyday. After about 6 months of this routine I realized that it was time for an *upgrade.* My skin was feeling cleansed with minimal breakouts, but rather dull and dry. So, I decided it was time to tiptoe back into the scary skin care realm.

Which is when I found my beloved skin care routine.

My skincare routine both AM and PM only consists of Youth to the People (mainly), The ordinary, and Paola’s Choice.

AM:

4. Youth to the People - Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream

PM:

3a. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% Zinc 1% Serum **Only Saturday-Thursday and NOT with the BHA Exfoliant**

3b. Paulas Choice - SKIN PERFECTING 2% BHA Liquid Salicylic Acid Exfoliant **Only on Fridays and NOT with the Niacinamide**

4. Youth to the People - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream

Let me tell you the tea fam - my skin has never felt better.

For the first time in my life my skin is clear and smooth. I wake up everyday not fretting about how long my makeup is going to take to cover up my blemishes or forcing myself to just “be okay” with my skin. I wake up, put on a bit of skin tint, and feel ready for my day.

You don’t have to believe me or use the products that I do, but I needed to share the goods somewhere. When you find your breaking point in your skin journey, follow it and listen to what your body needs. It will tell you.
